Deputies arrested two Lexington County women Thursday evening after an extensive search in central Lexington County.

Brittany Michelle Furubotten (above left), 32, Regina Williams Wangness, 46, were involved in a shots fired call deputies responded to in the 2400 block of Old Orangeburg Road Thursday afternoon, according to investigators.

“Based on our ongoing investigation, Furubotten and Wangness fled the Old Orangeburg Road location after shots were fired,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “Both women were wanted on active arrest warrants.”

Additional charges stemming from the shots fired call and the evasion of deputies are pending, according to Koon.

Lexington County K-9 units tracked Wangness before deputies apprehended her near Edmund Highway. Furubotten was later apprehended by a K-9 a short distance away near a vacant home.

Koon said the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division assisted in the search from the air with one of its helicopters and on the ground with a K-9 unit. State Troopers assisted deputies on the perimeter of the search area.
