Would you like a behind-the-scenes look at what we do at the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department?

I’d like to invite you to take part in our spring 2016 Citizens Academy class. It starts March 8 and will mark the 40th time our department has opened its doors to members of our community for a first-hand look at our goals, objectives, organizational structure and general operating procedures. Our Citizens Academy also offers transparency and helps the public gain a full and complete understanding of how we serve and protect them every day.

Participants will have an opportunity to interact directly with specialized law enforcement units such as K9, SWAT, jail administration, bomb demolition, marine patrol, crime scene investigation, narcotics enforcement and more. Graduate certificates are awarded to those who successfully complete the nine-week program.

To take part in our Citizens Academy, you have to be a resident of Lexington County who’s at least 18 with a clean criminal record. There is no charge, but space is limited.

If you’d like to apply, please pick up an application at our headquarters at 521 Gibson Road in Lexington. You can also download a digital application from our website www.LexingtonSheriff.com.
