LEXINGTON, S.C. – A Lakeside Middle School student has been charged after he made an online bomb threat to Gilbert High School.

Detectives interviewed the male student, whose name will not be released because he’s under the age of 18, Wednesday morning.

He’s charged with making threats to schools.

“School administration notified us about the threat after a student reported receiving a social media message threatening to ‘blow up’ GHS and River Bluff High School,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “We always take these threats seriously. Thanks to Lexington School District One, Lexington Police Department and the student who reported the threat, together we were able to keep the students and community safe.”

The student was charged by Lexington Police Department for the threat to RBHS.

The student has been released to his parents and will appear in Lexington County Family Court at a later date.
