A search is underway for a shooter after gunshots were fired into cars from a bridge above Interstate 20 in southwest Lexington County.

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department investigators said multiple gunshots were fired from the Quattlebaum Road bridge over I-20 during the overnight hours early Wednesday. Multiple eastbound vehicles were struck.

A State Transport Police officer discovered one gunshot wound victim after checking on a car that was parked along I-20. The individual is in stable condition after being transported to a local hospital.

Lexington County deputies, State Troopers and State Transport Police officers plan to conduct increased patrols in the area around the bridge and along I-20.
