A Lexington County correctional officer has received a statewide award from a group of South Carolina detention professionals.
Sharon Washington, a master correctional officer at the Lexington County Detention Center, has been named “Supervisor of the Year” by the South Carolina Jail Administrators Association.
“MCO Washington is always ready to answer questions and provide feedback in an effort to make the detention staff more efficient and effective,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “She’s always mindful of policy and procedure yet adds that personal touch when it comes to taking care of her employees and the inmates under her charge.”
Washington joined the Sheriff’s Department in 2006. Before attaining the rank of master correctional officer, Washington served as a field training officer in the detention center for more than eight years.
