LEXINGTON, S.C. – Lexington County deputies have arrested a Lexington man accused of fatally shooting a man at a business early Sunday morning.

Regin Nicreis Oakman, 26, is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to arrest reports.

The victim has been identified as 39-year-old Michael Lewis Keaton of Gaston, according to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher.

“Based on the interviews conducted at the start of our investigation, the shooting stemmed from an argument between two men who worked together at the business,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “The two men were arguing throughout the day Saturday, then eventually started fighting after midnight. That’s when witnesses tell us Oakman pulled a gun and shot Keaton.”

Oakman drove away from the business in the 3900 block of Platt Springs Road after the shooting, according to Koon.

“Deputies identified Oakman as a person of interest in the shooting early in the investigation,” Koon said. “They tracked him to a home on Topaz Court and arrested him without incident Sunday afternoon.”

Oakman was transported to the Lexington County Detention Center where he awaits a bond hearing.
