LEXINGTON, S.C. – Lexington County narcotics agents arrested a man and a woman after patrol deputies detected drug activity at a Gaston mobile home.

Derrick Lavern Johnson, 33, and Maritza Fuentes Sanchez, 22, are charged with trafficking heroin and meth, distribution of marijuana, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and three counts of unlawful conduct toward a child, according to arrest warrants. Johnson is also charged with felon in possession of a firearm.

“Narcotics agents executed a search warrant at a mobile home in the 200 block of Bent Tree Circle Aug. 12,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “They found meth, heroin and marijuana along with several digital scales. Agents also seized three guns, including one that was reported stolen.”

Children were close to and had access to illegal narcotics while under the care of Johnson and Sanchez, which led to the unlawful conduct toward a child charges, according to Koon.

Johnson and Sanchez were arrested at the Bent Tree Circle location and transported to the Lexington County Detention Center. Both have been released after meeting conditions of their bond.
