Your might be hitting the road this Labor Day weekend for one final trip before the kids settle in for the school year. But, there’s no need to announce your travel destination and itinerary. We recommend keeping your plans to yourself and only trusted family members and neighbors.

It’s very tempting to share photos from your trip on Facebook or other social media networks, but it’s best to avoid that. Posting about the great time you and your family are having hundreds of miles away is all a bad guy needs to confirm you’re not at home. And, since you never know where those pictures and posts might end up, we recommend sharing all the details and pics of your trip when you return.

Most of us will drive for our last trip of the vacation season, but what about the cars we’ll leave behind at home? There are a few things you can do to protect those vehicles while they sit in your driveway.

  • Take your key; don’t leave it in or on your vehicle.
  • Close and lock all windows and doors when you park.
  • Park in well-lit areas – in your garage or carport, if possible.
  • Never leave valuables in your vehicle.

If you and your family are hitting the road this weekend, call us at 803-785-8230 to let us know. As part of Project Property Check, our deputies will come by and make sure your home is safe and secure.
