A Lexington County man has been charged with burglary after stealing a case of scratch off tickets from a Gaston convenience store.

Frank James Sturkie, 35, turned himself in after seeing surveillance footage of the incident at D&M Grocery.

“Sturkie was not only caught on camera taking the lottery tickets and putting them in his car, but he was photographed the next day in Clarendon County trying to cash in one of the scratch offs,” Lexington Sheriff Jay Koon said.

After Sturkie saw he was caught on camera and it was being circulated on social media, he decided to turn himself in, according to Koon.

Sturkie was released on a personal recognizance bond. His first court hearing is scheduled for April 20th.
