The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Foundation are accepting registrations for the Jailbreak Escape Urban Challenge Run to be held Aug. 20 at the Lexington County Soccer Complex off Gibson Road.

“The annual obstacle course race is a 3.1 mile run with obstacles and crossfit-style exercises designed to challenge participants of all ages and fitness levels,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “Participants will race in two person teams.”

Koon said a two-person team registration fee is $60 through Aug. 16. The two-person team registration fee is $70 from Aug. 17 until the day of the event. Single entries are $35 through Aug. 16 and $40 from Aug. 17 until the day of the event.

Registration packets will be available for pickup at 6:15 a.m. the day of the event. The race starts at 8 a.m.

“Between 6 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 20, there will be road closures and traffic delays as we work to protect the safety of race participants,” Koon said.

Gibson Road will be closed from Gibson Court to Highway 1. Duffie Road and Hendrix Street will also be closed.
