Deputies have arrested a Swansea man wanted for obstructing justice during an ongoing homicide investigation.

Daiquan Lamont Brooks is charged with tampering with evidence at the scene of an April 29 homicide on Meadowfield Road in Gaston, according to arrest warrants.

“To make this arrest less than 24 hours after we sought help from the public is a testament to the strong support we receive from our community,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “A community tip was essential in locating the fugitive and we’re grateful someone took it upon themselves to step forward and help us.”

Koon said deputies arrested Brooks without incident Thursday afternoon in a Cayce apartment complex.

Brooks is also charged with a drug-related offense that took place at the Meadowfield Road location the date of the fatal shooting.

Brooks is being held in the Lexington County Detention Center while he awaits a bond hearing.
