The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department will offer SABRE’s College Safety Program July 18 at 6 p.m. in its training center on Gibson Road.

“The free training is perfect for female students, and their parents, as they become accustomed to life on campus,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “The course presents practical tips to help students make personal safety a priority during their time moving onto and around a college campus.”

Koon said Sheriff’s Department training instructors will teach course participants how to discourage dangerous threats and avoid potentially dangerous situations.

“The two-hour session will feature personal safety tips we’ll be sharing will be suitable around the dorm or on the go between classes and social activities,” Koon said.
