LCSD

The Christmas parades have come and gone, and the presents are unwrapped. You might even have taken your tree down and put your decorations back in storage until next year.

During this stretch of time between Christmas and New Year’s Day, I can’t help but reflect on how eventful 2017 was for us at the Sheriff’s Department. Once again, a constant throughout the year was the faithful support from you, members of our community.

That support was a comfort to me and all of us this past spring when we experienced the tragic death of an LCSD civilian employee. Lindsey was a valued member of our family and an integral part of our team.

The year has concluded with two highlights. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers’ Association presented the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department with its Excellence in Law Enforcement award.

The award recognizes the overall activities and achievements of an entire law enforcement agency or department. Winning such a prestigious statewide award is a testament to the great men and women who work throughout our entire department.

We also received our seventh Law Enforcement Accreditation Award from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, commonly known as CALEA.

I’m proud for the men and women of this department as they’ve maintained this international accreditation for nearly two decades. Professional excellence is a top priority for us and compliance with CALEA’s standards has become a part of our everyday operations.

We’re also proud of the countless ways you’ve helped us advance cases and solve crimes. Your willingness to share tips with us after seeing an alert on social media or the news is one of the most important ways we can continue to work together in 2018.

We look forward to serving and protecting you in the new year. I hope you and your family enjoy the rest of the holiday season.
