Lexington County SWAT team members suited up Tuesday for day two of the search for a man related to an officer-involved shooting that happened Monday on Devils Backbone Road in Leesville.

A K-9 unit led the search through the woods while a SLED helicopter gave agents an aerial vantage point. Deputies hope to find a black male, about 5’10” with a medium build. He was last seen wearing dark clothes.

“We really want to encourage the public to please call us if they see anybody matching that description,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “We really would like to talk  to the lady who was the original complainant yesterday, that flagged our deputy over to help us with that description.”

Koon said connecting with that lady will be helpful to those working on the case as she could have more information about the man. That information could also ease the minds of those living in a community ready to help.

“Just be vigilant. If you see something out of the ordinary, let us know,” Koon said. “If you have some out buildings or areas that you want us to check, please let us know and we’ll be happy to come out and do that.”
