A Lexington County corrections sergeant has become a Certified Correctional Supervisor through the American Correctional Association and Commission on Correctional Certification.

Sgt. Paula Hare completed the requirements to become certified in June. According to the association website, program is designed for individuals at the “mid-management” level who work with staff and offenders in a corrections setting.

In order to begin the program, applicants must meet certain requirements and be accepted.. Once accepted, applicants will prepare and study for the American Correctional Association Certification Examination.

With the addition of Sgt. Hare, the Lexington County Detention Center now has 12 nationally certified correctional professionals. Hare was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in July 2004.
