A Columbia man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection to a fatal shooting early Sunday morning at the City Nightz Bar and Grill in West Columbia.
Christopher Jamel Brisbon, 27, is also charged with possessing a weapon during a violent crime, burglary, criminal conspiracy and three counts of first-degree assault and battery, according to arrest warrants. Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher previously identified Rodney Leak, 41, as the victim of the fatal shooting.
“Based on physical evidence at the scene, we were able to connect Brisbon to the crime,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “Because we’re still working to determine who else was involved in this shooting, this investigation is ongoing.”
Leak was shot inside the bar shortly after its 2 a.m. closing time Sunday, according to Koon.
Lexington County investigators arrested Brisbon Thursday evening during a traffic stop. He’s being held in the Lexington County Detention Center while he awaits a bond hearing.
